By the mercy of the Supreme Lord and enormous support from many enthusiastic volunteers, a successful food distribution program was conducted at five locations in Miyagi. And this may just be the beginning. If more hands unite, we can serve better and for a long time to come.

WHAT WAS ACHIEVED?

On 17th April 2011, hot cooked meals, salad and fruits was relished by around 600 affected people who expressed deep gratitude.　Various miscellaneous items like plastic boxes, masks, goggles, Air purifying machine, forks, spoons etc. were also provided as requested by the camps. Aditionally, 800KG raw vegetables and fruits were also distributed.　Locations visited were Wataricho, Nattori, Iwanuma Shiyakusho, Iwanuma Taiko Kan/Shimin Kan and Iwanuma Kaizen Center.　For past few weeks, affected people have been served just with Plain rice & Miso soup so this was pleasant surprise.

WHAT NEXT?

Good news is that we have received a contribution of US$ 10,000 from Food For Life (www.ffl.org) in addition to contribution from other generous individuals/groups. This is less when compared to what has to be and can be done. We will be continuing with food distribution service over coming weekends on April 24 and April 30.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

Enormous effort is involved in the whole cycle from preparation to distribution. You can assist in various ways like driving, transportation, shopping, cutting vegetables, cooking, packing, distribution, cleaning, donations in kind and/or cash or any other way you can think of. If you know of someone who can help, please pass on this word to him. Last but not the least, please pray for the affected. Sincere prayers are mighty then Tsunami and will always help.
